Is there any way you can get a dog walker? Even if they aren't "walking", just someone that can come give your puppy attention and maybe do basic training. I personally think 3 hours in the crate at a time is not too much, but I don't think 20-30 minutes out is enough. Any suggestions? Would making play time around 20-30 minutes every 3 hours be okay? We would probably keep playtime at around two hours in the evenings when my husband gets home. Is it alright to limit play time after crate time to 20-30 minutes? I just hate to leave him in his crate ALL day while I’m working from home…I know he’ll need to get used to it when I start really working, but for now it’s painful to leave him in there while I’m home. This setup seemed to work when we first got him, but now that bar prep has accelerated, I feel like playing for an entire hour every three hours is time that I could be using studying. So basically, for every three hours of crate time, he gets an entire hour of play time (not always physical-we do lots of mental exercises too) and supervised roaming of the house. I figured it would be a great chance to train him (and particularly crate train him) before I get a “real” job. My husband and I decided to get him, our first puppy, because I’ll be home all summer while I study for the bar exam.
